Engineering Support Technician

Ommo is the pioneer of permanent magnet-based 3D tracking technology, providing ultra-precise 6DOF tracking for tiny sensors in real-time, at up to 1,000 times per second. We track the position and orientation with up to 0.1mm in precision of tiny sensors that are less than 1mm in size. Serving as a localized GPS for surgical navigation systems, our technology will eventually be used for a variety of digital transformation use cases, including virtual training, robotics, and human-machine interfaces.

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Engineering Support Technician to assist in the development and production of cutting-edge 3D tracking technology. In this role, you will support engineering teams through hands-on product testing, prototype assembly, and post-processing of components, ensuring parts meet rigorous specifications. You will be responsible for managing lab operations, maintaining advanced prototyping equipment including 3D printers and CMM tools, and contributing to pilot builds and verification processes.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support engineering teams through product testing, pilot build assembly, and post-processing of parts (e.g., cleaning, sanding).

  • Manage lab operations, including inventory control, cleanliness, and general organization.

  • Operate and maintain various lab equipment; perform preventive maintenance as needed.

  • Inspect and measure parts against engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Use and maintain 3D printers; expertise required.

  • Operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and assist with part verification.

  • Contribute to equipment upkeep and machining tasks (machining experience is a plus).

  • Work independently to prioritize multiple tasks and manage small projects as assigned.

  • Follow established procedures while being flexible in undefined or evolving systems.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong technological fluency and ability to adapt to new tools and workflows.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic, unstructured environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and cleanliness in workspace maintenance.

  • Prior experience in lab, test, or prototype environments.

  • Strong communication and task prioritization skills.

  • Expertise in 3D printing technologies.
